Byron Shaw attended Carbon College (now College of Eastern Utah) for two years, then graduated from Utah State University with a BA in Music Education. He married Marianne Marshall and started his teaching in Bancroft at North Gem (2 years), then moved to Grace High School, where he taught for 30 years before he retired. He served the Fifth District as Music Secretary for two years, then as President for eight years. He was awarded the Idaho HS Activities Association's Distinguished Service Award (1990).
Byron is very active in music in the Grace area - singing with a men's chorus, a quartet called the Country Gentlemen, and later with a mixed quartet. He was Chairman of the Performing Arts Committee - a group who worked hard for the new Performing Arts Building in Grace. This building is a wonderful auditorium, used by the high school for their musicals, programs, concerts and plays. Byron always had topnotch music groups performing at Festival and in the community. Byron and Marianne have four children.
