Bob Spevacek received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He taught public school and was Music Supervisor in Delaven, WI, and directed the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. At the U of Idaho, Bob directed the Vandal Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble - taught low brass, conducting, teacher preparation courses and performed with the Idaho Brass Quintet. His wind ensembles performed at Northwest MENC and he raised the standard of performance when he adjudicated for many Idaho Festivals. Bob started the U of I Jazz Festival 37 years ago and claims he had no idea it would become what it is today. He created the School of Music Bandfest, a daylong gathering of outstanding High School Band performances, college chamber groups and master classes. He was inducted into the American Band Masters Association in 1985 and is a member of the International Tuba/Euphonium Organization. Bob has been a guest conductor and clinician at many music festivals. He taught for over 29 years at the University of Idaho and retired in 1998. He is still an active performer with groups such as the Salt River Brass Band, adjudicates at music festivals and continues working with music students in Arizona.
