Raymond Dale Ball graduated from West Plains High School in West Plains, Missouri. He earned his BME from Drury College in Springfield Missouri and his MME at the University of Oregon. He also did post graduate study at Northern Illinois University and Boise State University
Raymond began his career by teaching for a year at the Springfield, Missouri Medical Center, which is a Federal Prison. He then moved on to a position teaching elementary through high school band, orchestra, and choir in Houston, Missouri where he stayed for two years. His next move brought him to Idaho where he taught for two years at Buhl. His final move took him to Boise where he taught in various positions for the next 32 years. He continues to work, even after retirement, as the music librarian and instrument custodian for the Boise School District.
Raymond has held many position in the IMEA organization, including President of District 3, IMEA President (1972-74), and Organizing Chairman of the All-State Choir and Orchestra. He received the IMEA Music Educator of the Year (1979), the Boise School District Red Apple Award (1993), and the Idaho Statesman Distinguished Citizen's Award (1993).
He and his wife, Lynne, have two children.
