David A. Wells received his BME degree from Ashland University. He then attended Kent State University and the VanderCook College of Music, where he earned is MME. He began his career teaching at Cuyahoga Heights High School in Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio (2 years). He also taught in Hillsdale, Ohio (3 years), Lexington, Ohio (10 years), Murray State University (11 years), and presently is Director of the Keith Stein Blue Thunder Marching Band at Boise State University (1986-present). He has served as and adjunct music professor at VanderCook College of Music from 1972 to the present.
In 1976 he created Cavalcade USA which has taught countless students and directors the finer points of marching technique. He has had band perform in many of the most well known arenas, including organizing the Idaho All-Star Band for it's appearance in the 2004 Tournament of Roses Parade, the first Idaho band to appear in the parade in 40 years.
David A. is not only a member of MENC and IMEA, but has been inducted into the American Bandmasters Association and is an Honorary Member of Phi Mu Alpha.
He and his wife Lavaughn have two sons and two grandchildren.
