Ford Smith

Ford Smith is a native Idahoan. He graduated in 1932 from Teton High School in Driggs. While he was attending what is now Idaho State University studying engineering, a friend encouraged Ford to become a teacher. After a short time at ISU, Ford began teaching school at Cedron, Idaho. There he taught all subjects and also started a music program. From there Ford taught four years at Central Junior High School and Lakeview Elementary schools in Nampa. He then moved to Wieser where he taught band and choir for twenty four years. (All the time working toward his Bachelors Degree)

Under Ford Smith, Weiser High School's Band program received the highest praise and awards.

In 1965 he earned his Bachelors Degree from the University of Idaho and became Principal of Park Elementary School. He earned his Masters Degree in School Administration in 1970, and retired in 1979.

Ford has been a member of IMEA/MENC for twenty five years, the National Bandmasters Association for ten years, the Lions club for fifty years, Phi Delta Kappa for thirty years, and is a life member of the Boy Scouts of America, having received the Silver Beaver Award.
