John Jordan received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Idaho. He began is teaching career at Culdesac (2 years). Over the next several years he taught a various schools, including, Clarston High School (2 years), Nez Perce (4 years), Lakeview, Oregon (2 years), Nex Perce (23 years), Craigmont (8 years). For three years (1980-83) he was the music teacher in Nez Perce and in Craigmont though he says it just about killed him. At Nez Perce he would sometimes have 11 classes in one day. Most years at Nez Perce he would have about half the student body enrolled in his band. Every 5th grade student would start an instrument in band!
John has long been a member of IMEA. He served as President of District II. He and his wife Evely and 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. John is still active as a vocalist, singing in the choir at First United Methodist in Lewiston, the Idaho-Washington Chorale, and the Lewis-Clark State College Choir. As an instrumentalist he continues to perform on the drum set in a local jazz group.
