Jerry Shively was born and raised in Idaho Falls, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Music and his Master of Music from the University of Idaho in Moscow. He and his wife, Ann (also an outstanding teacher), lived in Idaho Falls and raised two sons. Jerry started his choral teaching at O.E. Bell Jr. High (1961-63), changed to Central Jr. High (1963-66), and moved to Skyline High School from 1966 to 1983. He then became Music Coordinator for District 91, from 1983 to 2000. Along the way, he served as President of IMEA and was chosen "Music Educator of the Year" in 1995. Jerry has directed the same church choir for 42 years. He is an accomplished pianist and has played for various civic events over the years, always ready to help whenever needed. Jerry has been a member of the School Board. His wife Ann worked on the State Elementary Music Curriculum with Gale Maxey's state-wide committee. Both Jerry and Ann have been ready, willing and able to help wherever needed in their community.
