After graduation from high school in her home town of Aberdeen, Idaho, Susan Mann received her Bachelor Degree from the University of Idaho. She eventually went on to earn additional credits from Idaho State University, Utah State University, Montana State University, Boise State University, and Cambridge University in Cambridge England.
Susan began her teaching carreer as the first Elementary Specialist in the Blackfoot School District. For the next five years she developed her own curriculum, taught over 1000 children weekly, and organized and directed the Blackfoot Children's Chorus. In 1985 she took over the choir program at Blackfoot High School with 35 students. When she retired from this position 21 years later, there were over 200 students involved in the choir program. Other accomplishments at Blackfoot High School include: developing and teaching an advanced music theory/composition class (15 years), advisor of award winning Blackfoot High School Bronco Yearbook (4 years), and producing and organizing the annual ISU/BHS Renaissance Holiday Feast (13 years).
The Idaho Music Educators Association also benefited from Susan's dedication and expertise. Her groups performed in 1990 & 1992 at the All-State Music Conferences. She served as IMEA Elementary Music Chairman from 1982-1987. In 1987 she was elected as IMEA Secretary and served there until 1994 when she was elected President-Elect. Susan served as IMEA President from 1996-1998 and as Interim President from 2000-2001. In 2000 Susan was the IMEA Teacher of the year.
Susan has been married to Danny Mann for over 40 years. They have three children and several grandchildren.
