March 3, 2010 March 19, 2010 or Until Filled White Salmon Valley Columbia High School Music Teacher 9-12 The White Salmon Valley School District is looking for an outstanding, high energy, high school band/choir instructor beginning with the 2010-11 school year. The teaching assignment at Columbia High School would include concert band, jazz ensemble, concert choir, and music appreciation. This is a program with many great traditions, fine community support, and enjoys the active support of a performing arts boosters club. The White Salmon Valley School District is part of the spectacular Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area and is located across the Columbia River from Hood River, Oregon a little over an hour drive from Portland, Oregon. Many musicians, artists, and writers make their home in the White Salmon area. Qualifications •Valid Washington state teaching certificate with music endorsement, or out-of-state music-teaching certificate transferable to Washington •Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff •Knowledge of both instrumental and choral music preferred •Ability to highlight student musicians in a variety of venues Personal Attributes •Flexibility •Ability to inspire and motivate students •High moral and ethical standards •High expectations for self and others •Enthusiasm and passion for both music and helping students For more information, please contact Malcolm Dennis at (509) 493-1970.
