Position:
Music K-12/Band
Grades:

Job Info.:
Job Info: The Valley Music position is a National Recognized music program and was featured in School Band and Orchestra Magazine July 2014. Next year the band program will be over 100 band students and the wind ensemble has scored superiors three years in a row at festival and took the top overall band award in 2016 at Music In The Parks in Layton, Utah. Valley School District is located in beautiful Southern Idaho and is nestled between Jerome/Twin Falls and Burley Idaho. We are rural 1A school district but by no means isolated with a very active music professional community through out the Magic Valley and the College of Southern Idaho for support. The position for Music is full time (salary is based on experience and placement on the career ladder and also a stipend for the pep band) and the school district is on a Four day school week (3 day weekends!), Tuesday-Friday. The teacher teaches kindergarten – 5th grade general music and Band in the secondary (6th Grade Beg. Band and 7-12th grade band, Next year there is a chance of three bands 6th, 7-8th, 9-12th). The elementary classes have music twice a week on alternating days and we use the Share the Music curriculum, Music K8 Magazine curriculum and an older version of World Music. The 3rd graders use percussion, 4th and 5th graders do drumline with buckets and recorder karate. School District:
North Gem School District
School:
North Gem Elementary and Secondary
Position:
Choir, Band, General Musi
Grades:
K-12
Job Info.:
This position is full time. The music teacher at North Gem teaches kindergarten through the 12th grade. General music is taught in kindergarten and grades 1-4. The recorder flute is taught in 1st and 2nd grades. Bowed and fretted strings are taught in 3rd and 4th grades. Band starts in 5th grade and continues up through 12th grade. Choir also starts in the 5th grade and continues up through 12th grade. Performances include, but are not limited to: winter and spring concerts (K-12), fall and spring variety shows (high school choir and band), spring performance tour (high school choir and band), assemblies, and graduations (K-12). Other responsibilities: class adviser, career class teacher (6th grade and high school), lunch duty for Jr. high, attend staff meetings and in-services, grant writing, plan and schedule music curriculum and performances, arrange for students to go to district events and prepare them ahead of time. The classes are very small at North Gem. Average size is about 15 students; so when you teach a band or choir in grades 5-8, the entire grade is in the class. High school students are extremely busy and participate in everything to make the varied programs run. The majority of them is very dedicated and work hard. The person for this position must be very flexible and develop a good rapport with the rest of the school staff, who in turn, are very supportive of the music program. The community is also very supportive of the music program. Concerts are usually well attended, especially in the elementary school. There is good community support for fund raisers as well, even though the population is small. The school has enough instruments for the students to use so that not many need to buy or furnish their own. Some of the instruments include: electric keyboards, pianos, drums, marimbas, xylophones, bells, elementary rhythm instruments, wood winds, brass, and string instruments (guitars, violins, cellos, and string bass). The music department also has a nice portable, wired sound system and Bluetooth speakers. Bancroft is a great place to live and raise a family. The community is fairly close knit and takes care of the needy. North Gem is a great place to work!!

Position:
General music, band, choi
Grades:
K-12
Job Info.:
This is a full time music position. It includes working with elementary and secondary level music. We are looking to bolster the upper elementary/Jr. high music program. Junior and Senior High students are in the same school, the elementary school is just a short walk away. I am the current teacher, but I have taken the job of full time media specialist. I will be available to assist if needed. Some of our goals include: instituting a 5th 6th grade band, and Jr. High Choir. Possibly adding some orchestra experience. Average high school class sizes range from 10-20, but hopefully this number will increase in band, as we build a solid "feeder" program.
