Welcome to

The Idaho Music Educators Association, Inc. is a nonprofit educational organization of current and former music teachers and administrators across Idaho in public/private schools and universities and colleges, including private studio teachers and music educators living in retirement. IMEA is a state affiliate of NAfME, the National Association for Music Education, a 85,000 member organization representing music educators across the United States. Our goals include the advocacy of music with government, school boards & administrators, parents & society; betterment of conditions for teaching music to our students; recognition and opportunities for outstanding student musicians; exploration of better and alternative teaching materials and methods; and mutual support through meetings, conferences, and individual help. The mission of the Idaho Music Educators Association, Inc. is to advance and advocate for standards based Music Education in all Idaho schools, to foster personal and professional growth of music educators, and to encourage and enhance musical opportunities for all students throughout the state.

All-State/In-service Conference

January 30-February 2, 2019 in Rexburg, Idaho.

The 2019 All-State Groups have been selected! A complete group list will not be posted. In order to see which students have been selected, directors must login to their Student Registration Page. All selected student will be listed there. Be sure to download the Registration Packet and read all of the instructions. Several things have changed since last year. The deadline for registration forms and fees is November 30, 2018.

Registration for the 2019 conference in Rexburg is now open. Registration information and other conference related items can be found on the Conference/All-State Pages under the Events menu. "Early Bird" pre-registration ends January 14, 2019.

A reminder to all IMEA members that IMEA offers a $300.00 Professional Development Grant to help offset the cost of attending the conference. Each IMEA District is allowed one grant, with the exception of DIII, which has two. Application is made through your district president. Download the Application for more information. All applications are due January 5th.

Choral Groups Rehearsal Tracks. The rehearsal tracks for the choral groups have been posted. You can access them HERE.

NAfME NW Division Conference and Honor Groups

NAfME Northwest Division and WMEA Honor Group Auditions NAfME and WMEA Honor group auditions are under way. Information and instructions can be found at the above link.

NAfME Northwest Division Conference Registration, Information and hotel links will open at the same link on September 15. Pre-registration closes on January 22.

IMEA State Solo & Ensemble Competition

Congratulations to all who the 2018 State Solo & Ensemble Competition. Finalists and rankings have been posted on the State Solo & Ensemble page under the results tab.

The 2019 competition will be held at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho on May 3 & 4, 2019. This year we add Percussion Ensembles.

Register Now for Modern Band Workshop for Idaho Teachers

Modern Band music programs teach the popular musical styles of the past 60 years, from rock and pop to Latin and Hip Hop, among other genres, with a heavy focus on improvisation, composition, and getting kids to play on day one. Modern Band complements existing programs such as jazz band, choral programs, marching band, and orchestral music.

Workshops will be held Saturday, January 12th, at Borah Elementary in Coeur d'Alene and Saturday, March 9th, at the ISU Fine Arts Building in Pocatello. CLICK for more information.
